Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir 30th Anniversary

Writer: Idalia ObregonIdalia Obregon

"We celebrate 30 years as a choir this year. Our choir was founded in 1995 by Gwyn

Roberts, a Welsh speaker from Caernarvon. Gwyn emigrated to Canada when he was in

his 60’s; he had been singing in choirs and at church since he was in short pants and soon

decided that Toronto needed a Welsh choir. Over the years, the number of Welshmen may

have declined, but the singers we attract today are drawn by the 4-part harmony, the joy of

performing for an audience, and the fellowship with the guys. We continue to attract new

singers and develop a repertoire that reflects our Welsh heritage as well as incorporating

challenging and contemporary music.

This season, our 3Oth, sees us performing in and around the GTA, culminating in a joint

concert on November 1st with the world renowned Treorchy Male Choir at Yorkminster

Park Baptist Church. This is a concert that you should not miss.

We continue to seek new concert opportunities, and new members to join our ranks.

You can visit our website at torontowelshchoir.com to get a taste of who we are and what

we do.

Contact me, Greg Brown, Publicity Director, at Greg.Brown1959@outlook.com if you are

interested in hiring the choir as a fundraiser, or if you are interested in joining us as a

singer."
